Sales Manager, National Account Manager - Monitor Group's Startup

Monitor is a leading management consulting and merchant banking firm started by Michael Porter and a group of his colleagues at Harvard Business School in 1983. We have 30 offices across the globe and have been in India for the past decade. One of India's major challenges and concerns is in the area of social inequity (a large group of low income people not benefiting proportionately from the overall economic growth in the country). Given our global experience in this area and our commitment to the social cause, we have made working on this issue a key part of our strategy for India. We are doing this through using 'market-based solutions to create social change'. It's an area that has tremendous potential in India and one where Monitor has relevant skills and networks to facilitate its development. We are working both at a broad sector level (developing a more rigorous underpinning of the opportunity, its drivers and barriers and how to address the barriers), and at the level of individual, specific initiatives, e.g., housing.

Housing initiative

There is a vibrant market for middle and high income housing in urban India. Our research - supported by the World Bank and National Housing Bank - shows that while there is both demand and buying power in lower-middle income segments, appropriate housing is neither being built nor financed. We have developed innovative solutions to build and finance such housing and have started pilots (actual projects of 300 to 2000 units) in Ahmedabad and Mumbai to demonstrate the viability of these solutions and create a new set of benchmarks for the industry. We have helped incubate a specialist low income housing finance provider. Monitor is now focusing on attracting and supporting a new set of players who can really scale up the market. A number of leading private sector banks, private equity funds, dedicated housing funds and start-ups have approached us to invest/partner with us in these ventures. This initiative should result in housing for 10 to 15 million households in the next 5 to 8 years.

We have generated revenues of 3 crores in the past this year, and aim to be a 100 core business in our fifth year.

The Team

We currently have five people on our team, a CEO who has built three businesses in the past and has over 15 years of experience helping organizations achieve breakthrough growth, a head of development who has over 20 years of experience in building high growth new businesses in some of India's leading financial sector and technology companies, a head of marketing who has been a journalist and a founder of one of India's first KPOs, and two account managers who have a combination of experience in start-ups and in running operational programs in large organizations.

We are looking for two people to join our LIH team at this stage. A National Account Manager, and a Sales Manager.

Compensation:
