About Akanksha: The Akanksha Foundation is one of Mumbai's most recognized non-profit organizations in the field of education. It impacts the lives of more than 3,000 less privileged children in Mumbai and Pune by addressing their education needs through Akanksha centres and school intervention programmes. A commitment is made to support each child by giving him/her a strong educational foundation, self esteem and values and by helping him/her plan ways to earn a steady livelihood. Akanksha's alumni today are pursuing work in professional fields such as finance, sales, human resources, social work, and education. Inspired by the success of its model, Akanksha now plans to replicate it across India, with the aim of reaching 20,000 children in five years.
